The 4th DS-I Africa Consortium Meeting was held at The Ravenala Attitude Hotel in Mauritius, 16th-22nd November 2024.
PUBGEM member Dr. Carmen De Kock presented a poster presentation titled democratizing genomics and data science for health in Africa. The presentation contributed to the 4th DS-I Africa consortium meeting by disseminating project outcomes, collaborative meetings with research hubs and project meetings.. The presentation brought into perspective the involvement of involving communities in research, sharing decision-making and benefits, educating the public, and giving people control over their data. To make this happen, researchers, communities, and policymakers must work together using inclusive and respectful methods.

Ethics and research hub collaboration
PUBGEM-Africa and Combatting AntiMicrobial Resistance in Africa Using Data Science (CAMRA) research hub strengthened their collaboration on ethics, data science, and antimicrobial resistance. The session laid out a shared roadmap for research and policy impact in Africa.
