Community and public engagement in Cameroon

We engaged with high school learners at the Government High School Limbe in Cameroon on 9 October 2024. This interactive event provided a platform for young people to debate the topic "Gene Editing is the Future of Medicine”.

Discussions ranged from the potential of treating genetic conditions like Sickle Cell Disease to raising safety and ethical concerns. The event was received with great interest and enthusiasm. Most students acknowledged that the debate impacted on their critical thinking. This initiative successfully fostered awareness, ethical discussions, and enthusiasm for genetics and data science among young learners.
